Daphne Bholua grows at altitudes between 5,000 and 12,000 ft in Nepal and southern China. This cultivar was raised at a much lower altitude. In 1982 it arose as a chance seedling found at Hillier nursery, in Romsey, by Alan Postill and named after his wife, It was micro propagated at first and because it was then widely available it became an overnight success. It was then the only evergreen Daphne to flower early.
