Growth Habit: A compact multi-stemmed shrub
Flowers: Single 5cm wide are flushed maroon at the centre and are delightfully fragrant.
Potential tree size: Up to 2m.
Uses:An ornamental shrub.
Introduction Date: Bred in 1930 by Pierre Louis Victor Lemoine, a celebrated French breeder.
Anecdotes and Comments‘Belle Etoile’ was given an Award of Garden Merit in 1984 by the Royal Horticultural Society.
The name means ‘Beautiful star’.
