| Distribution: | A hybrid between Japanese Alder (Alnus japonica) and the Corsican Alder (Alnus subcordata). Originated in the Spaeth nurseries of Berlin in 1894 and entered the trade in 1908. |

| Growth Habit: | Rapid growth with a pyramidal to oval crown, reaching 15 to 20 m. |
| Bark: | Grey-brown and slightly fissured. |
| Leaf: | Elliptical, dark green in summer, emerge purple-tinged, and turn violet-red in autumn. |
| Cones: | Small, cone-like fruits develop from female flowers. |
| Flowers: | Produces abundant yellow-brown catkins in late Winter or early Spring. |
| Uses: | Widely used as a street, avenue, and park tree due to its robust nature. |
