This shrub is on the west side of the Philadelphus Walk near the northern end.
Purchased from Pan-Global Plants, Frampton-on Severn, Gloucestershire in March 2007.
Philadelphus maculatus is one of at least six subspecies found in more arid parts of northern Mexico and Guatemala, growing on steep limestone slopes. They are noted for their strong fragrance. The cultivar ‘Mexican Jewel’ was first marketed in 1992.
