| Growth Habit: | A tree which sometimes grows to a height of 40 to 50 m. |
| Bark: | Smooth, grey, green or yellow and is shed in short ribbons. (Sometimes the bark on the lower part of the trunk of the tree form is rough or fibrous.) |
| Leaf: | Adult leaves are lance-shaped, dull greyish-green, 6 to 12 cm long and 12 to 20 mm wide. The juvenile leaves are arranged in opposite pairs, heart-shaped to more or less round and lack a pedunvle. |
| Flowers: | Flowers are arranged in groups of three. The buds are 5 to 8 mm long and 3 to 4 mm in diameter. The flower caps are cone-shaped or hemispherical and much shorter than the rest of the bud. |
| Fruit: | Fruit is cup-shaped to cylindrical, 6 to 12 mm long and 6 to 10 mm in diameter. |
| Plant Hunter: | First described in 1929 by Joseph Maiden and William Blakely from a specimen collected from the Tingiringi Mountain in Victoria. |
