Distribution:Native to eastern Asia – Korea and China.
Closely related to the European Common dogwood (Cornus sanguinea).
Planting Date: 1934, purchased from Hillier Nurseries, Romsey, Hampshire
Growth Habit: A tall shrub or small tree – usually multi-stemmed.
Bark:
Leaf: Opposite, oval, slender-pointed 5 to 12 cm long.
Flowers: White in 8 cm wide corymbs in June
Fruit: Globose, black
Toxicity: Not known
Potential tree size: 8 to 16 m
Uses: Ornamental

Introduction Date: 1907
Anecdotes and Comments: Rated National Champion by The Tree Register in 2009, on account of its height.
Felled by storm David on 17th January 2018, regrowth, from stump, observed in 2022.
